Saturday Class

Don’t forget – there’s only a few Saturday open mat classes left before we go back to our regular schedule after Labor Day. It’s a great time to practice your techniques, get ready for your next test, or get in some meditation time. Black belts are on hand to help if you need it.

Elizabeth Gains Green-Stripe

On August 7, after patiently waiting a long time, Elizabeth finally qualified to take her Green-Striped White Belt test.  And boy did she nail it!  One of the best tests in a while thanks to all the practice she put into getting ready.  Congratulations, Elizabeth.

Congratulations to Jo for passing her sandan (3rd degree black belt) test on Saturday, June 2nd! It was well deserved – she showed what hard work and many hours of preparation can do. Great job Jo!

Issac Passes First Test

On May 3, Issac took his first test and earned a promotion to jukyu (One tip).  He seemed a little nervous, but who isn’t during tests, and ran through the test just fine, passing with good marks.  Now he’s on to the next challenges.  Congratulations, Isaac.

New Summer Hours

Beginning Saturday, June 9th, the Saturday classes will be combined into one class for all students regardless of age or rank. The class will run from 10:00 am until 11:30 am and will be conducted in a more Okinawan manner. That means that instructors will be on hand to work with students who are present but there will not be a formal bow-in to begin class or a bow-out. Students should arrive and depart as it fits their schedule or stay the whole time to work on individual material. The dojo will return to the usual Saturday schedule on Saturday, September 8th.

Tai Chi Summer 2018 Schedule

We have just two Tai Chi classes left before our summer break! Our remaining classes are May 21st and June 4th.

There will not be class on May 28th (Memorial Day). After June 4th, there will be no Tai Chi classes over the summer. We will resume regularly scheduled classes in the fall. Have a great summer!

Josh Gains Sankyu

On April 26th, Josh took the long-awaited sankyu (brown belt) test and passed.  It was no surprise to those watching that he did very well, including well executed techniques including stances, some impressive self-defenses and three tough rounds of sparring.  Congratulations, Josh.

Jaedin Passes Blue-Stripe

Jaedin took and passed his blue-striped white belt test on Saturday, April 28.  This test took perseverance and hard work but he showed off his skills during the test and passed with high marks.  Congratulations, Jaedin. Next up, Jaedin moves to the Juniors Program and more new material.
